Five 20+ Scorers! (In A Loss?!)

It’s not often you see a box score with at least four (4) players on the same team who score 20+ points in a game, but five (5) players is super rare… and the Atlanta Hawks did it in a losing effort against the New York Knicks last night.  The five players, Trae Young (38), Dyson Daniels (23), Onyeka Okongwu (21), Georges Niang (21), and Caris Levert (20) accounted for 123 of the team’s 148 total points!  Incredible.  In addition to the scoring there are other talking points to highlight from these performances:

  • Ice Trae’s stat line was excellent in this game because he also accounted for 19 ASTs and went 12-14 from the FT line.
  • Dyson Daniels has become one of the NBA’s elite defensive players and he accounted for 4 STLs in addition to 4 REBs and ASTs, respectively.
  • Double O’s complete stat line which included 14 REBs, 5 ASTs, 3 BLKs, and 2 STLs and 90% FG shooting was incredibly productive.
  • Caris LeVert’s double-double was very impressive, especially coming off the bench, although to be fair his 36 MINs played was 4th highest on the team.
  • And if you’re the Hawks you HAVE to happy to see Niang’s full stat line with 4 REBs, 3 ASTs, 2 BLKs, and 1 STL off the bench (if only he could do that consistently… if so, he probably wouldn’t have been traded recently from Cleveland).

This was a great performance, the only thing missing was the Win!  As a die-hard Knick fan I’m not complaining one bit ;-).
