Not Top Of The Key

Besides the fact that the Kansas Jayhawks got thumped in this women’s college basketball game 90-60 by their cross-state rivals, the Kansas State team did not take a three point shot from the top of the key.  This is the second time I’ve seen this and still find it surprising that a team can go 40 minutes and not take a shot from the top of the key, arguably the easiest three point shot on the court.  That aside, this game was a drubbing from the tip, as the Wildcats out-shot the Jayhawks 34 to 20, making 53% of their total shots vs. just 36% from Kansas.  Ouch!  To the Jayhawks credit, however, they did shoot 100% from the free throw line, making all 10 of their shots.  As a former state free throw champion, I certainly appreciate that! ;-)
